A Lighter Shade of Noir
Theatre Company 10 and Theatre Production 10, as well as some amazing student volunteers, have been hard at work rehearsing for JL Jackson’s Little Black Box Theatre production of “A Lighter Shade of Noir” by Patrick Derksen. The 3-act play is a comedy spoof on Hollywood movies’ “Film Noir” genre from the late 1940s and early 1950s. Enjoy a fun night of cheezy dialogue, familiar but slightly twisted characters, and kooky “hard-boiled” monologues as Private Eye, Trent Trowel teams up with a group of other famous detectives (Shirley Holmes, Tracy Dyck, Inspector Eustache, and Ms. Beatrice), along with their lowly sidekicks try to solve a mysterious heist that happens right in front of their faces. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll roll your eyes… You might even throw up a little.
“A Lighter Shade of Noir” opens on Friday, June 2, with additional shows on Monday, June 5, Tuesday, June 6, and Wednesday, June 7. All shows are at 7:30 pm in the Little Black Box Theatre (room 203). Tickets are general admission and are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors (65 or older). Tickets can only be purchased in person at the office. Tickets will be available at the door for each show ONLY if there are available seats. The Little Black Box Theatre is a very small and intimate venue (maximum 60 seats), so get your tickets early!
