Jackson would like thank students, staff, and families for all of the submissions and feedback for the naming of our athletic teams. Jackson athletic teams will be known as the Steller’s Jays starting the 2022/23 school year.
The Steller’s Jay is the provincial bird of BC and according to traditional mythology, Steller’s Jays can teach you fearlessness, adaptability, and survival…if you follow its lead. The Jackson Jays represents new beginnings and a sense of identity. It is also a bird recognized in Secwepemc cultures known as Sqewe’y. It is a bird known to be agile, aggressive, bold, intelligent, and protective. All descriptive words that represent what athletic teams strive to be.
