Important Information Regarding Online Rumours
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am writing to address misinformation currently circulating online regarding an alleged threat toward our school. We are aware that these rumours have caused concern, and we want to provide you with accurate, verified information.
At this time, the school has received no credible information indicating that a threat has been made toward our school or our students.
Since becoming aware of these online claims, school administration has conducted interviews with dozens of students. Thus far, no student has identified themselves as being part of the alleged group chat where a threat was made. Nor has any student been able to name a person who heard a threat firsthand. Additionally, the most recent image showing the statement “I will be getting revenge on evb who come for me this year” that is being circulated online has been confirmed to originate in January from a publicly available Facebook page belonging to an individual who resides in California and is not connected to our school community.
We take all concerns related to student safety extremely seriously. When rumours spread rapidly online, they can unintentionally create fear and confusion. For example, there was also an unfounded rumour that the school was closed yesterday. We ask for your support in helping students understand the importance of not sharing unverified information and of reporting concerns directly to a trusted adult.
If you or your child have screenshots, direct messages, or firsthand information related to a specific threat made toward the school, please contact the school administration immediately so that we can investigate appropriately and involve the proper authorities.
We appreciate your cooperation and partnership as we work together to maintain a safe, calm, and supportive school environment. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will communicate further if there are any verified developments.
